Design Thinking, as an approach for identifying innovation, has been slowly evolving over the past decade. It is based on the assumptions that anyone - not only a designer - is able to find new solutions by applying a specifically defined process.Design Thinking is a specialised approach to problem solving that uses design methodologies to identify new opportunities. These methods include observation, prototyping, building, and storytelling, and can be applied on a broad scale for organisational and innovation challenges.
More concretely Tim Brown, CEO of IDEO, states that Design Thinking is
“a discipline that uses the designer’s sensibility and methods to match people’s needs with what is technologically feasible, and with what a viable business strategy can convert into customer value and market opportunity.”
